How to prepare for your Call Center Dream Job

After I graduated College I never realize that I will become a Call Center Representative. While we are on the job training in one of the government office in Manila we often heard a lot of good things about call center industry stating that it has good pay compare to other jobs in the metro. Of course hearing this will automatically catch your interest especially if you really need to find a job to support your everyday living. How to prepare for your Call Center Dream Job?

If you are interested to apply and you're what they call "Call Center Virgin" who doesn't have any experience at all (in this industry of course, hey no other meanings please. hahaha!)  but so eager to be part of this world here are some tips that could help you grab your dream job right away.

Tips on how to prepare :

1. Of course you need to ready yourself first. Applying in this industry if you are a first timer is not easy. First you need to mind set yourself. Practice  EOP as they call it, meaning English Only Policy. 15 days practice on how to speak the language straight will help you to get used to it. Apply it for 15 days it will help.

2. Watch American Shows / Movies / Game Shows / Cartoons etc.. NO LOCAL SHOWS please. Why? for you to adopt neutral accent. If your accent is strong you need to practice speaking, don't be shy, don't hesitate to speak in English and practice neutral accent. Remember if you really want that  job you'll do everything to get it. This won't hurt you by the way. Watching American Shows will able you to understand their culture as well. So if ever you get hired you'll know how to deal with your customers because they are Americans. Here are some good shows that you might want to watch online or if you have cable t.v it's a plus factor for you.

   * The Big Bang Theory, NCIS, How I met your mother, The walking dead, New Girl, Are you smarter than a fifth grader?, Charlies Angels, The Good Wife, Two broke girls, Pretty little liars, The secret circle, Supernatural, Fringe, Oprah, Myth Busters, etc

So many T.V shows to enumerate but the main reason why I do not advice any local shows for 15 days it's because even if they speak English? You'll still adopt their native accent. I mean don't get me wrong we have a lot of very good and smart artist in the Philippines but it is better if you'll study Americans on how they pronounce their native language. Believe me it works.

3. Read books or magazines (of course American Authors). It will help you construct sentence, will help you know the right words and spellings. Try to go to any Book Sale Stores there are a lot of good books in  very cheap prices. Just pick a book that captures your interest. Mine personally are books from John Grisham, Tom Clancy and Stephen King.

4. Of course go to the first step. Speak the language. don't hesitate to do it. Speaking pure English is normal nowadays you don't need to be ashamed of it. Talk to your friends in English there's nothing wrong with that.

There are a lot of ways on how to be familiarize with American Culture. You don't need to embrace it, simply knowing and understanding will do. Of course Loving our own Country is better but learning other culture is a plus especially if this will help pay your bills and buy your stuff. So I hope this simple ways on how to prepare, help. Good Luck!!
